I’m always a big fan of optical illusions.
Who remembers those eye puzzles about 10 years ago where you had to look hard and basically re-educate your eyes to find a 3D image?
This one is not animated. It appears to move because it is tricking your eyes.
Notice how the image doesn’t shimmer if you keep your eyes absolutely still. That is, you can’t see the difference until you actually move your eyes to make it appear.
Not to read too much into it but I think these things are brimming with metaphor…
