Bahrain and the F1: my feature in The Australian

CAIRO airport is not a place to be detained by security. Not only is it one of the Middle East’s less salubrious airports, it has also acted as a hub in the US’s rendition program, part of a serpentine maze that led to Guantanamo Bay, or worse.

Leading Bahraini human rights activist Nabeel Rajab felt the fear, as he explained after being held “for no reason” for 19 hours at Cairo airport under controversial circumstances recently.
